The agreement sets out plans to expand access to Quandela’s photonic quantum computing platforms, software and cloud services, while supporting joint work in quantum communications, quantum machine learning and hybrid computing.
Seoul, South Korea – 7 October 2026 – Kookmin University, which launched its Quantum Campus initiative in 2025, and Quandela, a European leader in photonic quantum computing, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to strengthen cooperation in quantum computing research, education and talent development through Quandela’s Quantum University Program. Signed by Jeong Seung Ryul, President of Kookmin University, and Sam Yoosuk Kim, Quandela’s General Manager for South Korea, the agreement provides a framework for Kookmin University to explore the use of Quandela’s platforms and software and for the two organisations to develop joint academic, research and industry–academia initiatives.
Expanding access to photonic quantum computing
Under the partnership, Kookmin University will explore how Quandela Hub, including Quandela Cloud, can support teaching, experimentation and academic research. The platform brings together learning resources and cloud access to quantum processors, helping users progress from foundational training to hands-on experimentation.
The collaboration will also explore quantum machine learning and hybrid approaches combining high-performance computing (HPC) with quantum processing units (QPUs), including potential joint research and industry–academia projects.
Supporting Kookmin University’s Quantum Campus initiative
Kookmin University launched its Quantum Campus initiative in July 2025 to connect quantum research, education and commercialisation, building on the university’s capabilities in areas including information security, artificial intelligence and next-generation communications.
A particular focus of the partnership will be collaboration with Professor Park Jun Seok of Kookmin University’s Department of Electronic Engineering, who leads the university’s Next-Generation Communications initiative. The work will centre on quantum communications, quantum computing education and related research activities.

Developing the next generation of quantum talent
Alongside platform access and research collaboration, the two organisations will explore joint seminars, workshops and research projects, as well as internships and international academic exchanges.
These activities are intended to broaden the practical experience available to students and researchers and strengthen connections between academic training, research and industry.
